Home Counties Here We Come!

Despite finishing 2nd to Kew CC in Thames Valley League Division 1 last season. Datchet 1st XI have been invited to join the Home Counties Premier Cricket League.

Usually only the winners of the Thames Valley League are invited to join this prestigious league, but Kew CC did not fulfil some of the criteria required for promotion. So having finished as runner-up Datchet underwent an inspection and were formally given the great news after ratification by the league’s full committee on the 3rd November.

Chairman Paul Tilley who has been instrumental in our recent achievements, said of the promotion, “it has been an amazing three years for the club! From being perennial underachievers in TVL Division 2A, to achieving two promotions in three years has surpassed our expectations and seen us join an elite group of clubs – we are now in the top five clubs in Berkshire! It has taken a lot of hard work from the team to get us there and will take even more hard work to keep us there. But one thing we aren’t scared of is hard work. For most of us this is unknown territory but we are looking forward to the challenge and intend to enjoy every single moment.”

New opponents for Datchet will include; Buckingham Town, Dinton, Great and Little Tew, Shipton-under-Wychwood and Aston Rowant along with old adversaries; Harefield, Gerrards Cross, Cove and Finchampstead. Bring it on!!
